Connecting to others is at the core of our inner being and when that connection is broken, we can feel a sense of deep lose. The Interlife Community hopes to support families and children to connect and reconnect with each other through building their connection with nature and others.
If you are in the OOHC, juvenile justice, child protection system, suffering from family separation, on NDIS, or needing to connect to peers and culture, The Interlife Community can work with you on your goals, case plan, probation and/or restoration goals through supervised family contact and group mentoring through the below activities. Activities will evolve and change as staff and participants provide feedback and ideas.
We will spend time exploring local waterfalls in the area, having a swim and soaking in the beautiful nature that surrounds.

Fishing is a great way to bond with each other, connect with culture, build self-reliance, strengthen our patience, and relax.
We will find a beautiful local spot to fish and hopefully you will be able to take your catch home and share with your friends or family.
The Interlife Community will help organise a fishing licence for participants.

Julian Rocks Marine Sanctuary is rated as one of the best dive sites in Australia. Connecting with animals can help one build empathy and respect, reduce stress, anxiety and other mental health issues. Animals sometimes need our help too. One way we can give back to animals, is by helping them when they are homeless, need our care, sick or injured and by picking up rubbish when we visit a site.
We can spend time visiting and helping out at an animal organisation, learning how to love and respect the lives of the most vulnerable and adorable.
In this course we will be partnering up with experts in the survival skills field. You will be running wild, exposed to the outdoors and the elements! We have day events and overnight camps available.
We will have have programs and workshops teaching Nature awareness, Wilderness Survival and the Primitive Skills that our ancient ancestors used every day to survive.
Some of the most beneficial survival skills you will learn will be how to Light fires, build shelter, navigate, track animals, forage, make cordage and discover the art of camouflage.
This course will have you connecting with nature and each other.
We will time the tide and winds and if all is good, we will have an awesome time having a paddle on a river, lake or creek.

The purpose of the spa experience is for relaxation, stillness, silence, recharging, self-love, and letting go.
During this activity we will be going to a spa to enjoy a spa, sauna, steam room, outdoor showers, and plunge pool. Here we will use this silent space to unwind and relax.
Afterwards we will share a meal together and do some journaling and art!
During June to October, we partner up with a local whale watching company and explore our ocean for whales and wildlife. It is highly likely that we will encounter several whales each tour and other marine creatures such as dolphins, turtles, and migratory seabirds as we explore the Cape Byron Marine Park.
This company works closely with The Oceana Project, Humpbacks and High-rises and Dolphin Research Australia contributing directly to critical research in the preservation of Humpback Whales, Dolphins and other marine life. They have researchers, marine scientists and enthusiastic photographers on their tours and photos are shared free of charge!
There are some awesome bike riding tracks in our local area that will have us exploring nature, getting some exercise in and building relationships!
We can ride along the coastal and rainforest tracks, crank the tunes, or take in the serenity, take photos, and enjoy a meal together.

Kitesurfing is a high adrenaline sport where you are harnessed to a kite with a board attached to your feet. Your kite is powered by the wind, as it carries you across the water.
Teaming up with the Kitesurfing professionals, we will get close to nature and have lots of fun learning how to fly the kite on land and in the water. Dependent on wind, lessons will either be in Byron Bay, Lennox Head, or Ballina. Their qualified instructors are focused on getting you familiar with the equipment and will have you up and riding in no time.
On one of our nature walks, we will be absorbing natures beauty, taking photos, swimming (if desired) and creating bush art. During our walk we will collect some nature to create a monoprint.
